NEW LIFE

Last week I had the joy of being part of new life. I remember when a certain man came to Jesus and said to him, "what must I do to be saved?", Jesus replied to him, "you must be born again". Jesus of course was not speaking of physical birth. Life is very valuable and important to God. I bring this up to you today, because I want to share the joy of the birth of a baby.

There is much expectation that comes from planned or unplanned pregnancy. By the time the baby arrives, many different emotions are expressed. The one thing that seems to hold true in every situation regarding the birth of a baby is the questions asked i.e. "How is the baby?" "Is the mother doing fine?" "Is it a boy or a girl?" These questions are not only ones of curiousity but I belief the also underscore the point Jesus was making when he told that certain man, "you must be born again". Birth symbolizes a new beginning. And with new beginnings come new hope and new desires. A baby gives us a sense of a better tomorrow. They are innocent. Untouched and uninfluenced by this world. Yet because the are now in a "new world" (outside the warm, protective and nuturing environment of the mother's womb); the same baby is totally dependent.

Yes, seeing my grandson brought a sense of hope to my heart and a prayer was uttered. Lord one day you will make this world a better place. Hurt and pain will be a thing of the past. We will be joyful and glad! Enjoying the fellowship of the saints and the presence of the Lord. Yes, if we desire eternal life with our Creator, as Jesus said, "you must be born again". Spiritual birth gives us hope that sin no longer has us enslaved and we can move forward with confidence and dependence on Christ Jesus in the "new world" that we live. CELEBRATE LIFE TODAY!
